Huawei today unveiled their brand new flagship foldable phone for 2021, the beautiful Mate X2. Huawei CEO Richard Yu took to the stage this morning to bring us all the details of their next generation foldable which features an all new design, building on the lessons learned from their previous foldable devices, the Mate X and Mate XS.

The brand new Mate X2 features a beautiful new design with a huge 8″ 90hz screen which folds inwards, as well as a separate full screen external display (also 90hz) for use when the foldable is closed. As we’ve come to expect from Huawei flagship devices, the Mate X2 really ticks all the boxes when it comes to features, including an impressive sounding quad camera setup, large 4500mAh battery, 55W fast charging, 5G, 8″ 90hz interior interior and a 6.45″ external display. The Mate X2 will be available in four colours with crystal pink and crystal blue joining the usual white and black options and Chinese customers can place their orders February 25. There was no mention of UK availability at the unveiling, but we’ll keep an eye out over the coming months.

In the meantime, the incredibly futuristic looking Mate XS is currently on sale via the Huawei UK online store. While we never got the chance to use this for ourselves, it was easily our favourite smartphone design of last year thanks to it’s futuristic Sci-Fi styling.
