Today Essential launched the eagerly anticipated Android 8.0 Oreo update for the stunning Essential Phone (PH-1). You can install it yourself right now by following the
instructions here: https://www.essential.com/developer/beta-builds
So far we’ve not encountered any bugs and everything seems to be running silky smooth which is a great sign. Essential have made a list of known issues on Reddit which you can see below.
Known issues list (updated 11/14)
- Intermittent Bluetooth connectivity issues with certain auto brands
- Battery performance degradations until optimized Oreo framework complete
- Occasional ANRs with certain apps
All in all, even though it’s early days, we’re really impressed with this update and it’s great to see Essential keeping their promise of regular updates.
