Epic have been regularly releasing free titles on their Steam rivalling Epic Games Store for a long time now, but today they announced the biggest FREE game yet, and it’s currently crashed the site! Yes, the Rockstar Games classic Grand Theft Auto 5 may well be 7 years old at this point, originally debuting on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013, but it’s still loved by gamers around the world.
So much so that since GTA 5 was made available for FREE earlier today, the Epic Games Store has been down with ‘Error 500’ being displayed. At the time of writing this, the message has changed to ‘403 Forbidden’. So with a bit of luck, it seems like Epic are making progress towards bringing things back online!
The good news is there’s no need to rush because you’ll be able to claim your free copy of GTA 5 on PC until 21st May, so there’s plenty of time for Epic to fix things between now and then.
